At the Law Office of Robert L. Jones, we provide attorney-directed, flat-fee representation for qualifying uncontested divorces in selected Georgia counties. Mr. Jones gives you individual legal advice, prepares documents for your circumstances, files your case electronically, and handles appropriate communication with the clerk and court. Is your case a fit for uncontested divorce?

Both spouses must agree on every material issue before we can accept a case as uncontested. That includes the division of property and debts and, when applicable, custody, parenting arrangements, child support, and alimony. Agreeing only that you both want a divorce is not enough.

You are welcome to inquire if you agree on the major points but still need to discuss smaller details. Your agreement does not have to arrive as a finished legal document. We can help put the agreed terms into the documents needed for your individual case. We do not negotiate disputed details between spouses as part of the flat-fee service. We do, however, offer advice to our client on all issues.

We handle qualifying matters both with and without minor children, subject to county limits. Residence, venue, county procedure, and the facts of your case determine whether we can accept it. Find your county to see the areas we serve.

What your attorney handles

Mr. Jones represents one spouse and gives that client confidential, individual advice. In nearly all our uncontested divorce cases, we represent the spouse filing the case; in rare cases, we represent the other spouse. The other spouse has the right to hire a separate attorney.

Once we accept the matter, the case begins with an in-depth telephone case-start conference. Mr. Jones reviews your circumstances and the terms you have reached, answers your questions, and prepares documents for your case rather than handing you generic fill-in forms. You have an opportunity to review the documents before signing. We give you signing instructions, file the case electronically, and communicate with the clerk and court as appropriate.

A clear path from inquiry to decree

Start by completing the Client Inquiry Form. You may also schedule an appointment. An optional, no-charge preliminary telephone consultation may help you decide whether our service fits. That brief consultation is separate from the telephone case-start conference, when representation begins and the attorney fee is due.

After the conference, we prepare and send the documents for review and signing. Once the signed documents are returned, we file electronically and handle appropriate follow-up. The court decides whether an appearance is required and when to grant the divorce. We do not promise a particular completion time.

The fixed $275 court-cost amount is separate. The credit-card processor adds a 2% surcharge to credit-card payments; it does not apply to debit cards. For payment timing, what is included and excluded, and complete current pricing, review the cost of an uncontested divorce in Georgia.

A small discount, typically around 5%, may be available in limited situations for civilian first responders and law enforcement officers. Ask us about eligibility when you inquire.

Other ways we can help

In limited situations, we offer a paid consultation or document review for $200 while you work toward an uncontested resolution, such as reviewing a proposed settlement agreement. If you retain us for an uncontested divorce within approximately 30 days, we apply that payment toward the flat fee. This is separate from the optional no-charge preliminary call.

We may also provide the responding spouse with ongoing document review and advice for the full flat fee. This limited service does not include negotiating with the other spouse or that spouse’s attorney.

Military uncontested divorce

Mr. Jones served eight years on active duty. Our telephone-based process can accommodate qualifying service members or spouses who are stationed outside Georgia or overseas. We understand that assignments and deployments create practical challenges, and we handle military matters with attention to confidential communication and the details of the individual case.

Georgia deed preparation

For a divorce involving Georgia real estate, we can prepare deeds and similar divorce-related documents for our clients. We may also accept an occasional standalone Georgia deed matter. Deed work is separate from the divorce attorney fee.

When our service is not the right fit

We do not accept contested divorce litigation, service-by-publication matters, cases involving an uncooperative spouse, or matters in counties that routinely require the client to attend an uncontested hearing. We do not prepare QDROs, FERS division orders, or military retired-pay division orders. But, if one is needed, we refer you to a very experienced lawyer who handles these special orders. You separately hire and pay the lawyer who prepares it; that work is outside our divorce fee.

The overwhelming majority of our accepted matters are completed without the client appearing in court, but the court determines whether an appearance is required.
