Why a Flat Fee Can Help

With hourly billing, the attorney fee depends on the time spent on the matter. A flat fee gives you greater cost predictability for the uncontested representation we agree to provide. It also lets you discuss questions about your case with the attorney without watching an hourly bill grow.

A flat fee does not mean every divorce qualifies. Both spouses must already agree on every material issue before our office can accept a case as uncontested. We also review the case facts, residence, venue, and county procedure before accepting representation.

Signing, Filing, and Court Appearances

We prepare the documents needed for your accepted case and explain how to sign them. When the other spouse cooperates and signs the appropriate acknowledgment, formal service is often unnecessary. Whether service is needed depends on the circumstances of the case.

Most uncontested matters we accept are completed without the client appearing in court. The court determines whether an appearance is required, so we cannot guarantee that result.

Costs Outside the Attorney Fee

Court costs are separate from the attorney fee. A credit-card processor surcharge applies to credit-card payments, and divorce-related deed work has a separate fee when requested. If a specialized retirement-division order is needed, you would separately hire and pay the attorney who prepares it.
